This is one of my very favorite places to eat any time of year. Their broiled whitefish (from Cross Fisheries) with lemon caper sauce is to die for!! My husband takes me here for all our “special” occasions. Valentine’s day, Anniversary, Birthday, Just sold a huge – super fantastic painting celebration, etc. We go out to eat a lot (yep, I am not really happy in the kitchen unless it is painting and needing use of the sink) and we patronize all the restaurants in town. I feel that it is VERY important to “Shop Locally” and I try to do it as much as I can. The Grey Gables Whitefish just happens to be my favorite – plus it is a fancier place so it is a good excuse to wash the paint off my face and get a little dressed up for date night! The restaurant is located in a large, old Victorian style house on Belvedere Avenue and guests are seated in rooms. The decor has been kept as an upscale old home and it is a wonderfully unique dining experience. This painting was done as a study for the large outdoor fiberglass fish “Charle-Fish”, (17 scenes of Charlevoix) the Red Cross of Northern Michigan’s “Great Northern Fish-In” fundraiser.
