The Story Behind the Art

Juilleret’s Restaurant was a beloved fixture in Charlevoix, Michigan, renowned for its incredible breakfasts and the “most unbelievable cinnamon toast you’ve ever had”—so good you could buy a loaf to take home! Artist Linda Boss shares her personal connection: “In high school, we’d skip class to hang out there for breakfast. Dave Juilleret was the cook, Dan was in my class, and Becky was in my brother’s class. Small-town life at its finest!”

As years passed, the restaurant changed hands and became a hotspot for tourists, with lines stretching down the building all summer long. Eventually, the new owners retired, the restaurant closed, and the quirky, colorful building was torn down. A modern structure with space for three businesses now stands in its place. While progress marches on, Linda misses the original’s unique character and the memories it held. This print of Juilleret’s Restaurant of Charlevoix captures that lost charm—perfect for anyone who shares those fond recollections.
