Description
This magnet measures 2 inches by 3.5 inches. “Lighthouse Through the Trees”. The image is a reproduction of a painting of the Charlevoix Lighthouse as seen through the trees just as the sun is getting ready to set from a viewing deck on the sand dunes of Michigan Beach, one of the City’s three public beaches. The original painting was a small 5×7 piece and was a quick sketch I did as a study for a possible larger painting and has a loose, light and airy feeling. I am always looking for new and interesting views and angles of the lighthouse. It is one of my favorite subjects to paint. I never get tired of trying to bring new adventures to an old subject. Michigan Beach is the most popular place in Charlevoix in the summer to watch the sunset. The beach is crowded, the cars are parked full circle and boats are scattered out from the pier opening spawning out in a large semi circle – bobbing in anticipation of one the beautiful west coast Northern Michigan sunsets. Sometimes people clap in appreciation as the fiery red ball sinks below the horizon line, car horns honk and boats air horns blast a salute to the end of a perfect summer evening.
