Description
Petunias Arrive! – Charlevoix. This magnet measures 2 inches by 3.5 inches. The image is a reproduction of a painting “Petunias Arrive! – Charlevoix”.
Each year Charlevoix has 60,000 petunias planted for five miles on both sides of the street on both sides of town, north of the Bridge and south of the Bridge. Operation Petunia started in 1982 at the kitchen table of my in-law’s house. Dale and Marilyn Boss have always loved flowers and loved Charlevoix and Dale is a real go-getter. (See Petunia Story) The Petunias arrive two days before planting, the Thursday before Memorial Day. They are delivered in two batches, one Tuesday and one Wednesday and half are unloaded on the Boss’s front lawn before they are distributed to block captains for planting on planting day. 30,000 colorful petunias in one’s front yard is a site to see! It is a sea of color. We couldn’t resist… my friend Margie and I set up our easels and painted shortly after delivery one year. The original is a small 5×7 acrylic on canvas and makes nice table art.
The framed Original painting is available as well as Note Cards and limited size Prints.
