Walking with Pollock Print

This is a signed print, stamped with a seal of authenticity on the back. The title and signature are on the front in a white border that frames the print image. Matting isn’t necessary, just pop in a frame. The total size of the image and border fits the size you are ordering.

The Story Behind the Art

I am having a hard time putting my shoes on (Medical problems and age) so I looked for comfy sneaker like slip-ons that didn’t cost an arm and a leg because I’m hard on shoes and replace frequently. I found an ideal pair that fit really good! But they were oh so boring. I had a brainstorm moment and thought, “Why not paint them!” Dribble paint, Jackson Pollock style. Because I was going to be “throwing” paint and Jim takes care of the lawn… and is picky, I put down a large plastic drop cloth.
 
What a blast! The paint went flying. I dribbled and splatted and designed my shoes. Wild, free flowing strokes and controlled, thought out design strokes. The shoes were done, and removed to dry. As I prepared to clean it up I smiled, it looked like there were a couple of footprints one the drop cloth! A frameable moment!

The Creative Process

  • Inspired by Jackson Pollock: Linda crafted hand-painted shoes in Jackson Pollock’s bold, drip-paint style, embracing the wild, free-flowing technique.
  • Outdoor Artistry: Painted outdoors on a drop cloth (to protect the lawn!), the process required smooth arm movements and plenty of space.
  • Happy Accident: Excess paint dribbled onto the drop cloth with a recess of where the painted shoe was, leaving “footprint” patterns where the shoes once sat.
  • Artwork presented itself!

  • Refining the Art: The artist added strategic splashes of color to balance the drip patterns, transforming the drop cloth into a striking composition.

Details

Dimensions: Walking with Pollock Print is available as an 5 x 7 inch border print, 8 x 10 inch border print and an 11 x 14 inch border print. It is printed on 100 lb white cover stock so it is nice, thick, quality paper. This is a “print”, not a giclée. The ink is a baked on toner powder that is archival. However, it is always smart not to put ANY artwork in direct sunlight and use UV glass in the frame for best protection. Archival paper can be requested for an additional charge.
