The Story Behind the Art
Wildflowers by the Kitchen Window Original 5×7 Painting is an original 5 inch by 7 inch acrylic painting on paper. We spend our winters in Florida now that we are “retired”. I enjoy hanging out on our deck painting while Jim watches tv. This little painting was done on a beautiful south Florida afternoon. We do lots of things while we are here so I like to do small paintings so I can get them complete in one session.
My Art Now
The little paintings have been such a hit that I have decided to do more in different designs. The size is perfect for me to work on without being overwhelmed. I tend to get tired and my hands don’t work well the longer I paint.
You may have noticed that this painting looks different than others if you have followed my artwork through the years, more Impressionistic or even Expressionistic. My painting style has changed due to my medical condition. My symptoms have worsened and will continue to do so. I no longer paint as tightly as I once could, nor do the small details I loved to add.
I am working on little paintings to see how my painting style evolves and to embrace it. To see what I can do and no longer do. It is frustrating as well as exhilarating. For years I had tried to “loosen up” and out of this came hope. I like my new style! I have always loved to learn and grow with my art. Now I’ve just had a kick in the butt!
Sometimes you have to look at the glass as half full to get through the day!
