Description
Appletree of Charlevoix Note Card by Local Artist Linda Boss. Reproduction of the painting of the art gallery gift shop, the Appletree of Charlevoix owned and run by Mike and Barbara Holmes. I purchased many gifts and added to my own collection from this neat gallery over the years. It was wonderfully eclectic, full of delightful one of a kind unique finds that made Charlevoix a destination for collectors. My aunt used to do a lot of her Christmas shopping on her yearly visit to Charlevoix. She loved the Appletree.
The Story Behind the Art
The building was originally the famous Earl Young’s office for his real estate business. He is internationally known for building the quirky hobbit-style homes that are found only in Charlevoix. Additionally, he worked his magic with four commercial properties. This was the fifth. It was torn down several years ago and the stones used to create an artist’s studio on Auld Avenue that I thought turned out very cool. Now it has become a summer cottage. The original building is gone but the spirit of the stone lives on. I think Earl would be pleased.
