This is another plein air painting, meaning I painted it on site outside looking at the scene. Plein air is French for painting in the open air. I painted this one during another paint out with the Charlevoix Circle of Arts and it was the first “sunset” painting I’ve tried this way. This was a warm summer evening and I could hear the frogs singing from the shallows in the distance. This was fun because I had to paint superfast to catch the sun setting to get the marvelous marbling of color in the sky. And there, in the foreground, you can see my friends the boulders. The setting sun light played off them in an interesting way.
