The Story Behind the Art

This image is a reproduction of  “The Charlevoix Yacht Club”. It is a pen and ink illustration on hard board with a watercolor wash over it. This rendering was commissioned as a wedding present and the couple has the original hanging in their new home.

I enjoy doing these tightly rendered drawings though they are much harder now that I am older. I find that I cannot see as well as I once could so close up detail causes eye strain. Also, the use of the pen and mechanical tools for all the fine lines makes the arthritis act up in my hand. Boy do I sound old!!! They are much harder to do than a regular painting so I don’t do them often. But when I do, you can see the passion come out in them. This one turned out especially nice because I knew the young lady who was getting married and wanted to create something magical for her. If there is a personal connection or, if I really like the view, scene or landmark, the piece turns out to have a glow about it. Maybe my inner happiness shines through!

If you know someone who is planning a wedding reception at the Charlevoix Yacht Club, it is available for special events, and “The Charlevoix Yacht Club Print” makes an excellent gift!

Details

Dimensions: The Charlevoix Yacht Club Print is available as a 5×7, 8×10, 11×14 and 16×20 Border Print. It is printed on 100 lb white cover stock so it is nice and thick, quality paper. This is a “print”, not a giclée. The ink is a baked on toner powder that is archival. However, it is always smart not to put any artwork in direct sunlight and use UV glass in the frame for best protection. Archival paper can be requested for an additional charge

Digital image for Artwork. The Artwork is photographed in natural light. This brings out the true color of the painting. I try my best to match the colors in the photo to the artwork. Slight differences in color can occur due to the calibration in screens, and lighting conditions under which the artwork is viewed.
