Up North in God’s Country Print by Linda Boss
This is a reproduction of the original plein air painting painted in Grand Traverse County. My friend Margie and I go trekking in her big four wheel drive Ford pick up looking for interesting places paint. It was hot this day and it was a first painting for us that day. We were bouncing along a two track and Margie chirped out “this is it!” She loved the way the shadows played on the tracks in the trail. I loved the pond that we came upon in the clearing. That is what is cool in Northern Michigan. You can be in the woods one minute and come around the corner to a clearing with a pond with everything so green and peaceful. The air crisp and clean. Birds chirping. The sun was getting warm that day and I was glad for some shade. A rare summer treat.
